Fieldwork and travel scholarships
Scholarship applications are due Friday, May 2nd.
The Center for Global Health Nursing (CGHN) offers a variety of scholarships and fellowships to help support students’ fieldwork experience in global settings. You can find your own experience, or use the programs offered by UW Study Abroad website. Scholarships may be granted up to $5,000, but vary based on the award, other funding received, and the nature of the applicant’s proposal.

What else do you need to know to apply?
Fieldwork, Research & Independent Learning Abroad (FRILA)
For students who are requesting scholarships for travel not related to an established UW Study Abroad Program, for example travel for dissertation research or a capstone project, enrollment in UW’s Fieldwork, Research & Independent Learning Abroad (FRILA) is required. This ensures students safety while abroad by maintaining student status.
Faculty Sponsors:
The CGHN requires that all students that are not participating in a UW Study Abroad Faculty-led Programs have a faculty sponsor. Faculty mentors are any faculty member from the University of Washington who can provide academic mentorship while students are abroad working with a host organization and ensure completion of travel scholarship objectives and requirements associated with the student’s academic programs (e.g., capstone, etc.). This faculty sponsor can be the same faculty member listed as your mentor for your FRILA application.
